Elfin, built circa 1942, started her life as US Coast Guard Cutter CG-83487. At the time of their construction these vessels were ostensibly used as anti-submarine vessels off the East Coast of America, earning themselves the nickname of "sub-busters". Elfin was decommissioned in 1962 and was then converted to a yacht under the guidance of the famed naval architect Ed Monk Sr of Washington State, USA. She has seen constant upgrading without detracting from her classic lines. She has been a Canadian registered vessel since 1975 and has been with her current owners since July 1990 and has been used for chartering throughout the Pacific North West for the past 12 years.
