Boat Description

Although sold, Mima is abeautiful 50 foot center cockpit sloop. She has been lovingly maintained and constantly upgraded by her owners who have lived aboard and cruised the Caribbean with her for the last 6 years.

Hull and Deck:Mima is a 6 foot draft fin keel fiberglass sloop. Her hull is Awlgrip Stars and Stripes Blue painted in November of 2003. Her mast and boom are Awlgrip white. Decks are nonskidded with Epiphanes nonskid light grey and have ample space for walking around the entire cabin. She has a large aft deck behind the aft cabin with swim platform on the transom and a 5 foot swim ladder. Under the aft deck is a very large lazerette for storing line, fenders, paints, etc and a propane locker large enough for 2 20 pound tanks. The foredeck also has ample room for working anchors and sails as does the cabin top.

Rigging and sails: All rigging was replaced September of 2005 with 3/8 316 stainless wire from Loos and new staylocks as well as new chainplates. The lifelines were replaced with inch and a quarter stainless double railings attached to new stanchions all the way around the boat for extra safety. There is a 600 pound lift on the transom for picking up the outboard which can be used to pick up a person or the dinghy in an emergency.

Mima's sail compliment includes a stackpack main, with stack pack new in 2006, furling 120 and 95% jibs and a new blooper for light air. The boom lowers on to a boom cradle at the top of the factory installed hard top.

Canvas: The center cockpit is protected by a dodger and rollup side curtains as well as a bimini all which attach to the hardtop. This makes the boat very dry in rain and shaded well from the sun. It all opens up easily at anchor for breeziness. There are large forward and aft awnings for protection from the sun at anchor and white removable hatch covers and screens for all 10 hatches. The dodger also has canvas covers to protect the plastic when in a marina.

Winches, the aft deck lift, wheel and intruments are all covered as well as are the sails. There are removable weather cloths for the backhalf of the boat.

Cockpit: The center cockpit has custom cushions and provides access to the aft cabin, forward cabin and engine room. There is a covered foldout table which makes dining for eight comfortable in the cockpit.6 foot bench seating on both sides as well as a comfortable helm seat make the cockpit a safe and comfortable place underway or at anchor.

Instruments: Mima has a Raytheon 8,000 autopilot, Wind, speed and depth instruments, 25 mile raytheon radar, Garmin gps with chartplotter and VHF radio. All of these instruments are mounted at the helm for easy reading by the helmsman. There is an additional gps, Vhf radio, charplotter and single sideband radio in the nav room.

Engine Room: Mima's Engine room is 8 by 13 feet and easily accessable. It contains all power plant items. The Yanmar 125 h.p engine was new in 2000 as was the Next Generation 5kw Generator. The engine has a 115 amp Balmar Alternator installed in 2004. There are 8 6 volt batteries and one 12 volt starting battery all new within the last year. The 20 gallon per hour water maker is also housed in the engine room and was new in 2004.

There are both engine driven and 110 regrigeration systems with compressors replaced in 2002 and 2005 also in the engine room. Hot water, holding and water tanks are in the engine room still leaving ample storage space for tools. The engine room has standing head room and walk around space for servicing all powerplant componets. Even changing the shaft packing is an easy task.

Ground tackle: Mima has a 55 pound Delta anchor on 200 feet of 3/8 inch chain spliced to another 150 feet of 1 inch nylon three strand. She also has a 50 pound Fortress attached to 60 feet of chain and 250 feet of 1 inch nylon 3 strand. These are run to an Ideal electric windlass, rebuilt 2005.

Cabin Layout: Stepping into the main cabin from the cockpit, you will find to port, a large U shaped galley with 3 big refrigeratin and freezer boxes, a microwave oven`, seaward princess gimbled 3 burner stove and oven new in 2001, trash locker, double sink with drainboard and stainless faucet with pullout spayer. Storage is below the sink, behind the stove and fridges and amid ships of the sink. Behind the companionway ladder is a heart 2.5kw inverter installed in 2003.

To starboard of the companionway is the navigation room with an L shaped teak desk bookshelves and radio shelf, storage belwo the desk and along the back bulkhead. Including a pantry, broom closet and chart storage.

Moving forward to port is the main salon with u shaped dinnete with teak table and bench seating all the way around. To starboard is an additional full length settee. There are custom cabinets with teak louvered and solid doors on both sides of the cabin above the settees as well as storage under and behind all settees.
