Caye Cargo Ltd was formed in 2004 to address the increasing delays in moving critical cargo between the Belize islands and the mainland. Our inventory includes an ex-navy LCM-8, D-3 Dozer, a 15 ton all-terrain crane, and a Case skidloader.
The steel-hulled LCM-8 was purchased in Norfolk VA. and towed to St Augustine FL. for refitting. The refitting included replacing all govt. electronics with modern commercial gear. The entire vessel was rewired, the props were balanced, new zincs attached, bottom painted, bunk house built and a 20KW Northern Lights genset was installed. The 12V71 Detroit Diesels, having been refitted by the US Navy, were checked and declared "in excellent condition" and the boat sailed from Florida to Belize in 2004.
Two 5000 gal. ballast tanks were fitted with a fule pump and meter to transport diesel fuel and two 5000 gal. tanks were equipped with a pump for delivering potable water.
All equipment is in excellent condition, the boat is US Coast Guard registered and permitted by the goverenment of Belize. The company is active and working, profits are increasing and the future looks bright!
